Homeowner and Neighbor Catch Thief

In the early morning hours of Monday, Dr. Dan Maggio of 325 Harlandale Dr. was awoken by noise from outside his home. He went out to his driveway to investigate the matter, only to find both vehicle dome lights on and a white male subject wearing dark clothing exiting his vehicle.  The white male suspect immediately began to flee as Dr. Maggio confronted him.  Dr. Maggio’s wife called 911 while he pursued the suspect up Harlandale Dr., toward Middle Sound Loop Rd., yelling for assistance to attract the attention of his neighbors.  Mr. Thomas Goodhand was leaving for work when he saw his neighbor chasing the suspect and assisted in the pursuit while his wife also called 911.  Dr. Maggio and Mr. Goodhand were able to catch up to the suspect and take him to the ground. Both Maggio and Goodhand detained the suspect until Deputies arrived.  Deputies arrested Justin Hunter Stroupe, a 23 year old white male and charged him with four counts of breaking and entering to a motor vehicle and one count of larceny.  Stroupe is currently in the NHCDF under a $5,000.00 secure bond.  The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are expected.
