New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from SABLE helicopter located a 71-year-old dementia patient who had been missing for 5 hours Tuesday evening.
At 7:25 p.m. Tuesday, New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a report of an 71-year-old dementia patient – Robert H. Bozeman, Jr. – missing from 823 Bozeman Road in Southern New Hanover County.
To assist with search efforts, New Hanover County Emergency Management officials generated an automated telephone call to residents in the immediate area. The call provided a description of the missing person and solicited anyone with information to call 911.
The SABLE helicopter crew located Bozeman just after 10 p.m and directed Deputies through thick brush using FLIR, which detects thermal energy. The rapid response from the SABLE unit was directly related to the success in finding the missing person and providing medical care.
